A 60-year-old cyclist died this morning (Saturday) after having a heart attack whilst on his bike in Costa Adeje, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) this lunchtime.
They have confirmed that they received an alert at 10:32am informing them that a cyclist was unconscious on the floor of Avenida de Bruselas in Fañabe after having a cardiorespiratory arrest and falling off his bike.
CECOES dispatched all the necessary resources to the area to provide assistance including a doctor and a nurse from the local health centre who gave him CPR until paramedics arrived by ambulance.
Unfortunately, despite their efforts they could not revive him and could only confirm his death by heart attack.
The Adeje Local Police collaborated closely with the emergency services, providing logistical support and diverting traffic, while the National Police assumed the responsibility of instructing the corresponding proceedings so that his body could be removed for official identification and autopsy.
