A boat with 52 migrants on board arrived by its own means in the Los Cristianos harbour in the south of Tenerife yesterday afternoon (Saturday), after being spotted two kilometres away by the Punta Rasca lighthouse.
According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), they received an alert from the 112 call centre notifying them that the boat was off the coast of Arona and dispatched the Salvamar Alpheratz rescue boat to escort it to the dock.
They also activated the Red Cross, medical personnel, and the police, who all went to the port to meet the boat when it arrived in the harbour.
Once on land, the medical device checked and assessed all 52 occupants of the boat, and eight of them were transferred to different hospitals in the south, one of whom has been hospitalized in serious condition.
