A 4-year-old girl suffered an epileptic seizure on board a plane that took off from Tenerife North Airport yesterday (Thursday), leading to a priority landing in Madrid as Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) cleared the flight path for the plane to land as quickly as possible with the emergency services on standby.
Crew onboard the Iberia Express flight treated the young girl as much as they could and reported the situation to the ATC who shortened their approach so that she could get treatment as quickly as possible on the ground.
They posted an update on their Twitter account saying: “We have shortened their approach as much as possible whilst coordinating with medical teams at the airport… and have instructed the traffic ahead to abandon their approach to the airport to allow priority. Thanks for the collaboration. We hope the little one recovers soon.”
As soon as the plane landed, medical personnel boarded the aircraft, stabilised the girl, and then took her to hospital for further treatment.
