An 86-year-old woman was rescued after spending more than 10 hours injured on the floor of her home in Parque La Reina, unable to call for help.
The incident happened overnight on Sunday in a residential complex in the south of Tenerife. The woman suffered a fall and remained on the ground throughout the night and early morning with multiple injuries.
Concern was raised when a neighbour rang the doorbell yesterday morning (Monday) and received no response. After hearing the woman’s cries for help, she alerted emergency services just before 10:00am.
Firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium, local police from Arona, and paramedics from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario were sent to the property on Calle Algorín.
Unable to enter through the front door, firefighters accessed the flat via the balcony. They found the woman injured and unable to move before opening the door to allow medical teams inside.
She was assessed in the apartment and found to have multiple injuries. With assistance from firefighters, she was placed on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
