The torrential rain brought by the weather pre-alert issued by the Canary Islands Government is already causing incidents, with at least 80 people trapped in a supermarket in Guimar, Tenerife.
According to reports by Radio Televisión Canaria, many of those affected are waiting to move their vehicles from the supermarket underground car park to the main access road to the Güímar Industrial Estate.
The heavy rainfall has led to flooding on roads in the area, and the emergency services, including the fire brigade, are on-site, working to pump water out of the car park and move a lorry that is stuck.
Authorities urge residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel until the weather situation improves.
Further updates will be provided as emergency teams continue their efforts to ensure safety in the affected areas.
