8-year-old girl seriously injured after being hit by a car in Gran Canaria
An eight-year-old girl has been seriously injured after being run over by a car last night (Monday) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
According to the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES), the incident took place at around 7:20pm on Avenida de Escaleritas, which is when they received a 112 alert requesting urgent assistance.
The relevant emergency resources were immediately dispatched, including a medicalised ambulance and a basic life support unit from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), as well as officers from the Local Police.
Paramedics treated the girl at the scene, where she was found to have sustained a serious facial injury. Once stabilised she was transferred by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Materno Infantil de Canarias for further care.
Local Police have taken charge of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
