A 70-year-old woman was rescued yesterday, Thursday, after showing signs of drowning at Los Cristianos beach in the south of Tenerife, according to reports from the Canary Islands Emergency Services (CECOES).

The incident occurred at around 2:00pm, when beach lifeguards pulled the woman from the water and immediately alerted 1-1-2 to request urgent medical assistance.

CECOES activated the necessary emergency resources, sending a basic life-support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), along with the Local Police to assist lifeguards.

The lifeguards provided the first aid until SUC medical staff arrived and continued treatment on the scene. The woman was then taken by ambulance to Hospiten Sur University Hospital, where she was admitted for further treatment.

Local Police have taken charge of the incident report, and no further details regarding her identity have been released.
