69-year-old man dies after car overturns at roundabout in Gran Canaria
A 69-year-old man died in the early hours of Thursday morning after the vehicle he was driving overturned in Maspalomas, in the south of Gran Canaria.
Emergency services received an alert at 3:55am, reporting that the car had crashed into a roundabout on Avenida de Las Tirajanas and subsequently overturned.
Firefighters arrived quickly and were able to free the driver from the wreckage. However, despite advanced resuscitation efforts by medical personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the man could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drivers are reminded to take extra care on the roads during the darker early morning hours when visibility is low and fatigue may increase the risk of collisions.
The Guardia Civil is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
