A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after being recovered from a cardiorespiratory arrest that he suffered at around 3:45pm this afternoon (Wednesday) on the seafront promenade in Playa las Americas in the south of Tenerife.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) have reported that they received an urgent call requesting assistance for a man who had collapsed on Calle Francisco Andrade Fumero, the promenade that runs along the coast from the Veronicas to Tenerife Royal Gardens.
An SUC doctor gave instructions over the phone to the person who had called 112, telling them how to correctly apply CPR and use a defibrillator until medical personnel arrived at the location given.
Once at the scene, paramedics verified that the man was still in cardiorespiratory arrest and continued practising advanced CPR manoeuvres, managing to successfully recover his pulse. They then stabilized him and took him by ambulance to the Hospiten Sur University Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
