A five-year-old child was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a car in Las Palmas last night (Friday), as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) for the Canary Islands.
CECOES received an alert shortly after 7:00pm informing them that an accident had taken place on Calle Sor Simona in the capital of Gran Canaria.
The necessary emergency resources, including SUC medical personnel responded swiftly to the scene, and determined that the child had suffered a traumatic head injury and was immediately taken by ambulance to the Maternal and Children’s University Hospital of Gran Canaria, where he has been admitted for urgent treatment.
The Local police were also present and conducted the necessary investigation to file the official accident report, to determine the cause of the accident.
This incident follows a similar pattern of recent road accidents in the area, highlighting the need for heightened road safety awareness and measures, and the authorities are urging drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and respect traffic rules to prevent such tragedies happening.
