A 40-year-old woman has been killed after being hit by a car in the south of Tenerife in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

The incident happened at 6.50am on the TF-653 near Camping Nauta, according to reports from the Canary Islands’ Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES).

Emergency services were alerted to the collision and medical staff from a nearby health centre, along with paramedics from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC), were dispatched immediately to the scene.

On arrival, medical personnel found the woman was in cardiac arrest. Despite attempts to resuscitate her using CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Guard Civil guarded the body until Judicial authorities gave permission for it to be taken for official identification and an autopsy. They have also launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
