A 25-year-old man was killed this morning in an accident in the south of Tenerife involving three vehicles that left another injured and needing hospital treatment, according to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
They received an alert at 6.38am this morning (Thursday) informing them of the accident on the Avenida del Palm Mar in Arona, and that the driver of one of the cars was trapped inside the vehicle and couldn’t get out.
They immediately dispatched the relevant emergency resources to the location given, who rushed to the scene of the accident to assist the people affected and assess the magnitude of the accident.
The fire brigade confirmed that due to the violent impact, one of the people involved in the accident was trapped inside the twisted interior of his car, creating a distressing and challenging scenario for rescue teams, who managed to release him so that paramedics could treat him.
However, despite the tireless efforts of the medical teams they couldn’t save the 25-year-old man’s life and pronounced him dead at the side of the road.
At the same time, another team of medics treated a 23-year-old man who was suffering from injuries to his neck and hands, obvious signs of the impact of the accident. After stabilising him, he was transferred by ambulance to Hospiten Sur in Las Americas for further treatment.
Another man, a 39-year-old, was also involved in the accident and received treatment on-site from medical personnel, and fortunately, his condition was not serious enough to require hospital care.
While the injured were being treated, the fire brigade secured the vehicles so that they could be removed and the road cleared. The Guardia Civil assumed the responsibility of carrying out the corresponding procedures to determine the possible causes of the accident and how the young man was killed.
