The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has reported more seismic activity around Tenerife in the last 24 hours, particularly on the west coast of the island.
In total, they have recorded more than 20 earthquakes with magnitudes between 1.3 and 1.8 on the Richter Scale at depths ranging between 30 and 46 kilometres.
Although this seismic series has generated some attention, experts point out that, due to the small size of the tremors, it does not represent a significant change in the state of volcanic activity on the Island.
So far, no damage or major consequences derived from these quakes have been reported, although residents in the southwest of Tenerife around Adeje and Arona have reported hearing a large rumbling sound at around 8.45am on Sunday morning that lasted for approximately 30 seconds.
The IGN will continue to analyse this series of earthquakes to obtain more information about them and will remain attentive to any development that may arise.
The strongest tremor over the weekend was 2.2 on the Richter scale at a depth of 4km in between Tenerife and Gran Canaria at the site of the Enmedio volcano.
