18-year-old injured after being stabbed in broad daylight in Gran Canaria

An 18-year-old man sustained moderate injuries yesterday, Sunday, after being stabbed in the neck in a public street in Santa Lucía, Gran Canaria.

The incident took place on Calle La Paredilla and is currently under investigation by the Guardia Civil. No arrests have been made at this stage.

According to the Canary Islands’ Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECEOS), the alarm was raised at 4:40pm, prompting the immediate deployment of the necessary emergency services.

An SUC medical team were the first to arrive at the location given and stabilised the victim before transporting him by ambulance to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria in Las Palmas for urgent treatment.

Both the Local Police and the Guardia Civil were also mobilised and continue to gather information surrounding the circumstances of the attack.

The motive remains unclear, and authorities have not ruled out any lines of inquiry as the investigation progresses.
