14 flights cancelled at Tenerife North Airport because of fog

Heavy fog has forced the cancellation of several inter-island flights from the Tenerife North Airport today, Thursday, including five flights to Lanzarote, two to Gran Canaria, one to La Gomera, and another to La Palma.

However, Binter, the Canary Islands local airline, posted on their social media channels that they have cancelled 14 of their flights so far today, saying that adverse weather conditions have affected connections between Tenerife and the islands of Fuerteventura, La Palma, Gran Canaria, and La Gomera.

The airline has advised passengers to check the status of their flights and to arrive at the airport with ample time to manage any potential delays.

In addition to weather-related cancellations, there have been other operational cancellations by the airlines due to low visibility, which started yesterday (Wednesday), when some flights had to be diverted to Tenerife South Airport.

Air Traffic Control reported on X that the fog was causing delays, frustrations, and diversions to alternate airports for safety reasons.

Recommendations

Passengers planning to travel to or from the Tenerife North Airport, are advised to stay updated on flight statuses through official airline channels and to allow extra time for travel to the airport. The situation is fluid, and further disruptions may occur as weather conditions evolve.
