An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition in hospital following a serious accident in Icod de los Vinos, in the north of Tenerife.
The incident occurred around 4:00pm this afternoon on the Paseo Canarina, where the young boy was knocked over by a car.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received the alert, prompting an immediate emergency response. The boy sustained several severe injuries and was rushed to the Hospital Universitario de Canarias in an ambulance for urgent treatment.
Local police attended the scene of the incident and have begun the necessary investigations into the cause of the accident. Further details regarding the boy's condition and the outcome of the investigation have not yet been released.
