A major new seaside walkway in the south of Tenerife is set to be completed after fresh funding was approved for the final phase of the Amarilla Golf coastal path.
The Tenerife Cabildo has signed an agreement with the San Miguel de Abona Town Hall to deliver the third and final stage of the project, with a total investment of €1.44 million.
Final stretch to complete coastal route
The project, known as Phase III of the Amarilla Golf coastal walk, will focus on the Ensenada de la Rueda area in San Miguel de Abona. Once finished, it will complete a large coastal route covering close to 30,000 square metres, creating one of the main seafront spaces in the municipality.
Officials say the development has been carried out in stages over recent years, with this final section linking everything together into one continuous promenade.
How the project is funded
Of the total €1.44 million cost:
- The Cabildo will cover around 85% (€1.23 million)
- The local council will fund the remaining 15% (€205,988)
Work and funding will be spread across the rest of 2026 and 2027.
The Cabildo completed the first phase of the promenade, while the local council delivered the second. This final phase will now bring both together.
The work will focus on improving and preparing the Ensenada de la Rueda area, seen as a key scenic and tourist spot in this part of south Tenerife.
Once complete, the project is expected to improve public access to the coastline, enhance the area’s appearance, and strengthen its appeal for both residents and visitors.
It will also create a more continuous and accessible seafront route, something long called for in this part of the island.
