Emergency landing in Gran Canaria due to medical issues on board

A Transavia flight from Amsterdam was forced to make an emergency landing in Gran Canaria yesterday (Saturday), after a passenger experienced a serious medical issue on board, according to reports from air traffic controllers on their X account (formerly Twitter).

The flight crew requested a priority landing at Gran Canaria Airport due to the severity of the passenger’s condition. Air traffic controllers quickly adjusted the flight’s route to ensure a rapid approach, diverting other planes to clear the flight path.

Additionally, they coordinated the emergency services and medical support on the ground to be ready as soon as the plane landed.

Once it had come to a standstill, medical teams boarded the plane and made sure the passenger was stable before taking them off the plane and to hospital in Las Palmas for further treatment.

Air traffic controllers expressed their hopes for the passenger's speedy recovery and thanked the crews involved for their cooperation during the incident.
